Les Alizés and Voltaire: crews qualified before first deployment

The challenge

Jan De Nul was bringing two new vessels into service: Les Alizés, a 5,000-tonne heavy lift vessel, and Voltaire, the world's largest jack-up installation vessel. Crews needed an environment where they could train on them before going offshore.

What OSC delivered

  • Full digital twins of both vessels inside the simulation environment
  • Rehearsals of monopile, nacelle, turbine blade and jacket lifts in realistic sea states, wind and fog, including equipment failures
  • Junior crew trained independently, without costing senior operators a distracted minute at sea
  • A simulator that doubles as a showroom for investors, press and clients
