Åsgard Subsea Compression: every procedure rehearsed before the first offshore day

ROVs working around a yellow subsea compressor station in the simulator

The challenge

The Åsgard compressor is the world's largest and most complex subsea installation, at 300 metres depth with poor visibility and light. Many crew members had not worked in the subsea environment for some time, and mistakes are not an option. Every operator needed to be ready before going offshore.

What OSC delivered

  • An integrated digital twin of the bridge, control room, two ROVs and crane in one environment
  • Every offshore procedure rehearsed step by step by the contractor's operators
  • Crews who had lost familiarity with the seabed regained their confidence
  • Dome visualisation and VR for spatial awareness a briefing room cannot give
